In my basic coding class, we had a final project. I decided to create a text adventure. Since there are engines available for creating text adventures, this wasn't strictly necessary. But it showed off my coding abilities and was a fairly clever idea, I think. The game that was produced, "Dog", is about a dog left at home while its owners are out doing human things. It is up to the player whether they are a good dog, or a bad dog. Noah Schnoll, a fellow game center student, helped me out with some of it, particularly some of the more evocative descriptions. But the coding framework and the original idea are mine, as well as a weird little dimension you can slip into. The game is written in Java. If you don't have Java on your computer, you can't play it. If you don't know whether you do, you probably don't - but it is free and easy to download. To download the game, click "download". The list of potential verbs is written across the side of the screen. |
